Photography is my true passion.
I love to photograph almost anything. Scenic landscapes, live events, candid portraits and occasionally even some studio work such as product photography and food photography.
My husband is employed in the Resort and Travel industry and because of this I have had the lucky fortune of travelling to many locations throughout the United States. Photographing these experiences became a natural activity. I simply wanted to preserve the beauty of these locations as I knew my memory would not do so adequately. This is where my love of landscape, wildlife and architectural photography came from.
At one point my husband's career took us to the lovely location of Nantucket Island off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusettes. While there I became involved with several organizations including the Nantucket Arts Council and Theatre Workshop. This allowed me the opportunity to photograph live events simply to preserve them for these organizations archives - as well as, again, my own memories. This is where my love of Live Event and Candid portraits came from. It goes without saying that this pristine location also fed my obsession with landscape and architectural photography.
Later we moved to Southampton, New York and I had the chance to spend some time with a very dear friend of mine who lives in New York City. THIS was a new experience for me and a new world. I realized then that if I could live my life over I would most likely want to do so as either a photojournalist or a street photographer. There is just always so much happening that I can't seem to document it quickly enough to appease my needs. Everywhere you look there seems to be something occuring that is worth preserving. So many textures and colors and styles - in everything from the faces of the people you pass on the street to the clothing they wear to the buildings that tower over you. I don't think I could ever run out of ideas for photographs in a city as interesting as New York City.
You will find styles of all of the above photography available for viewing in my many galleries at Flickr and you can also purchase Fine Art Quality prints at my online store, several of my photos are also available as unique cards, postcards and postage at my Zazzle shop.
Just about the only types of photography I don't do is Wedding, Pet or Studio Portrait Photography.
Why?
Because each of these types of photography is something I consider an art form within an art form. Each is so very precious to the client that it seems dishonest, in my humble opinion, to only pay part time service to these styles. There are many photographers out there who are much more talented than I already dedicating themselves to this type of work. If you are in search of such a photograph please be sure to find someone who has dedicated themselves to the style you require. These are the photographers that will make your session a success and truly work to create those special memories you are looking for. I cannot honestly bring myself to offer these services when I do not have the required expertise in these areas. In my opinion, part of being a professional is knowing your limitations - and I KNOW my limitations. Do your research carefully and you will be well rewarded with wonderful photographs.
